Paul Eliot Green(1894-1981) was a Southern playwright, poet, and novelist. Born in Lillington, North Carolina, Green lived in the state all of his life and tried to capture in his writings the culture and heritage of the American South, concentrating on the experiences of tenant farmers, mill workers, Native Americans and African Americans. Althea Hunt was the director of the College of William and Mary Theater from 1926-1957. She was a professor in the English and in the Fine Arts departments and was named Professor of Fine Arts Emeritus upon her retirement from the College in 1961. She received her B.A. degree from Alleghany Colletge and her M.A. degree from Radcliffe. Althea Hunt, who was born in 1890 and died in 1971, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
